How do I tell my friend she goes over board when talking about her sick mother?

I have a friend at work who's mother is sick with diabetes. She is in and out of the hospital every other day and my friend gives me updates on her condition every time something changes. She will tell me when her blood pressure is high, what her sugar level is and so on. This happens many times throughout the day, every day. Details that are becoming remedial and meaningless. She also spends the day on the phone yelling at the nurses, complaining of the job the doctors are doing and badgering her mom who is sick with questions that she cannot answer when she is confused and in a sugar spell. I want to be there for her, but it is too much. It runs her life and the constant updates are becoming real annoying. How do I steer her away from giving me every detail of everything that happens in her mother's life.
