How to Tan Without Burning?

I usually use a tanning oil with spf. that way it attracts the sun but doesn't let you burn. and everybody is different and tan differently so the times are different for everybody. I don't promise the tanning oil will work. my friend is fair skinned and I'm not and it doesn't work to well on her.
