Colorful streaks in dark hair?

I have dark brown hair, pale skin, and hazel eyes. I want to get a few crazy colored streaks in my hair, but i don't know what color. I'm stuck between blue, red, and purple. If you have any other color ideas, just say so. How long will it last? Will it damage my hair? Should I put a couple in my bangs, or will it look bad? What color? Should I do it at a salon first time? I NEED HELP!!!! I don't want to make a bad decision!
