Would peekaboo highlights affect my locks of love progress?

I decided over a year ago to donate my hair to locks of love. The guidelines say that you must donate at least 10 inches and it CAN NOT be highlighted/bleached hair. Which I had. So I decided I would stop bleaching my hair and grow all the bleach out so I could donate it. I haven't had my hair highlighted since June of last year. My plan is to grow my hair out to at least my belly button then cut it because that would get rid of all the bleach and I could then begin growing out the 10 inches needed to donate.I'm getting antsy about having the same boring hair color for so long though but don't want to give up. So I plan on putting a little red on my bangs and tips of my hair which wouldnt affect the process since that hair is already damaged and will be cut out soon anyways when I get a trim and my bangs recut. But I was thinking of putting peekaboos in. As in 2 strips of color on the underpart of my hair that would just peek out. Since this would be bleached from the root thats why I have this question.
