Question wen u seperate a transmission pls read?

i hav a 98 bmw 740 i took off the tranmisison in order to replace the rear main seal the torqe converter bolts to the flywheel and then it has a little circle whole tht the tranmission shaft goes into and wen i kept tryin to push the tranmision so it would aline it would not go into the whole correctly and wat i did was i got it to bolt to the block slightly and it jus banged and went in lol so ive heard as long as it bolts to the block tht im ok and everythin is bak together now and my starter wont work right how do i alighn it since i took everythin apart do i hav to move the flywheel?and also i took a screwdriver aka prybar and i spun the flywhel to make sure it moved and ya it budged but as u kno its a ting whole and i can only move it so much im at a bad angle and so i mean its not stuck or anythin if it at least moves right?wel any help apreciated thanks and if anyone can also tel me how to tip the starter thanks:)
